Water violet (Hottonia palustris)

Water violet (Hottonia palustris) has attractive fern like foliage with pretty very pale pink flowers in May and June. A pretty native oxygenator which likes calm clear shallow water although can go deeper once established.  It is fine in full sun if fully submerged otherwise it prefers part shade or full shade if planted in the bog garden.  It can struggle to establish in new ponds.  Provides a good hiding place for larvae and basking sites for adult dragonflies.Planting position: Can grow submerged in depths up to 60cm deep when established, but plant at depths of 5cm initially.  Alternatively bare root bunches can be dropped in the pond and may successfully establish free floating.Form: 1 litre in an aquatic basket -please select size below
