The grill is held in place by a gentle magnetic clasp.I purchased one of these for myself, along with a few to offer in my shop. From my personal use, I can tell you this: The lens offers excellent clarity for close examination of jewelry or fine paint strokes…Things of that nature. The lens is less useful for anything you would do at a greater distance from the eye.Overall measurement of the framed lens is 30mm in diameter (roughly 26mm for the lens alone).
