Austria occupation of Bosnia 1916 Mi. 98/99 Complete set ☀ MNH**stamps Austria’s occupation stamps for Bosnia in 1916, Mi. 98 and Mi. 99, are charity issues from World War I. These were produced under Austro-Hungarian military postal administration following the 1878 occupation and 1908 annexation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Mi. 98 depicts a 10 heller value, cancelled at Sarajevo I in July 1916, while Mi. 99 is part of the subsequent October 1916 series ranging from 3h to 10Kr (Mi. 99-116), used as provisional wartime issues.​ Design and Purpose Both stamps supported WWI charities, following earlier overprinted charity sets like Mi. 96 and Mi. 97 for disabled soldiers, designed by Alfred Cossmann. Mi. 97 (5 heller) preceded them as an engraved charity stamp for the same cause. These reflect the “K.u.K. Militär Post” inscriptions typical of Bosnia’s military post era from 1912 onward.​ Collectibility Mint never hinged (MNH) sets of Mi. 98/99 remain available, often sold in blocks or complete pairs for around €4, indicating modest current market value.
